On December 6, 2022, the Insurance Asset Management Association of China (IAMAC) released the 2022 evaluation results for private equity investment fund managers managing insurance capital. DCL Investments once again received the highest rating – “Class A,” achieving an overall score of 94.62 points. This marks the third consecutive year that DCL Investments has received this top honor, following its Class A ratings in 2020 and 2021.
Funds managed by DCL Investments have achieved deep coverage across various types of professional institutional investors. Since the firm’s establishment in 2015, over 20 insurance institutions have committed capital to funds raised by DCL Investments, placing the firm among the leaders in China’s private equity fund management industry in terms of insurance capital participation. In the 2022 IAMAC evaluation of PE managers managing insurance capital (“Insurance Capital Managers”), a total of 14 insurance institutions participated in scoring DCL Investments.
This evaluation was conducted based primarily on regulatory policies governing insurance capital investments in private equity funds, combined with practical industry needs. Managers were assessed across 41 secondary criteria grouped under 9 primary dimensions: Corporate Governance & Investment Team; Management Systems & Processes; Risk Management; Scale & Performance; Post-Investment Management Mechanisms; Legal & Regulatory Compliance; Insurance Cooperation; Incentives & Constraints; and Information Reporting & Disclosure. Ten compliance-related criteria employed a deduction-based mechanism, with a maximum deduction of 30 points. According to the evaluation rules, results are categorized into four classes: A, B, C, and D. A total of 171 domestic, non-insurance-affiliated private fund managers managing insurance capital participated in this evaluation. The results were as follows: Class A (80 points and above): 126 managers; Class B (70 to 80 points): 17 managers; Class C (60 to 70 points): 3 managers; Class D (below 60 points): 5 managers.
